ろめのうと とロメモト 日粵精華 (CD)

I’ve been noticing this new CD box set for a while at CD/DVD shops & finally my curiosity got the better of me & bought it today (was $130 in Mongkok, but $105 in Ma On Shan). Obviously the Japanese title does not make much sense to Japanese people… How should I say this, it’s pronounced ‘Ro-me-no(のwritten sideways?)-u-to to-ro-me-mo-to’ in mixture of hiragana & katakana… when I first glanced at the cover, I thought it said ゆめのうた トモロウと(夢の歌 灯ろうと), or more like ‘Dream songs, with lanterns’? ‘Enlightened Dream Songs?’or even ‘Dream songs, with tomorrow’?). Funny how mind instantly becomes dyslexic ;-) There’s only couple of typos in the Japanese titles (but really, they shouldn’t get that wrong!).

It’ll take a while to listen to all the songs in 3 CD set (especially I cannot listen to music while I translate), but my favourite so far is 每天愛你多一些 [真夏の果実] by Southern All Stars. There’s also songs by チャゲ&飛鳥, 山口百恵 etc, so it’s definitely targeted, usually, to people older than me (probably my parents’ generation!). However, as I only spent my childhood, 80’s, in Japan, music of this era is more familiar to me than more ‘modern’ music :-) It’s kinda strange though, when you’re fully expecting a female singer, then a male voice comes up! I’ll definitely get my parents to listen for fun next time I’m in Tokyo :-)
