6 teacup duos c.1930~1950 (eBay purchases)
Oh dear… I think I need more display spaces in my phantom cupboard! (or better still, another bigger matching 1930’s art deco display cabinet to the one in my rented house – will be on the hunt at Antique dealers once I get back to A house!). Despite a large number of photos, there are [...]

Fire King, Anchor Hocking (continued)
As I said in my previous post, there seems not be a huge market for jadeite (jadite (US?)) Anchor Hocking Fire King pieces, at least in Australia anyway (more in US, where it originates). I’m still in search for jadeite cup & saucer duo, as well as the turquoise (robin’s egg blue), but in the [...]

Fire King, Anchor Hocking, depression glasswares ‘in the Mood for Love’
We recently watched the movie ‘In the Mood for Love’, a poignant, stylish story set in 1960’s Hong Kong, directed by Wong Kar Wai (imdb or wikipedia), which has to be one of my all time favourite movies. I love both Maggie Cheung & Tony Leung in it, their fashion (Chan tai – Maggie’s character’s [...]

Saturday 31 October – Another visits to Sham Sui Po. Another ‘Antique’ porcelain purchased!
We bought a pair of hand-painted tea? sake? cups with gold gildng inside (matt, not glossy & gaudy). Beautiful detailed painting of 8 Chinese mythical characters (same for both). Very good condition, with barely visible hairline cracks near the bottom rim, which [...]

One of the classics, in both Japanese & Cantonese, is this song in 日粵精華 (CD). Sang by Koji Tamaki(玉置浩二), one of the very respected singer songwriter in Japan (& music written by him also), and sang by one of the greats in Canto-pop Jacky Cheung (張學友). Sounds very natural in both language, sang by two [...]

I’ve been noticing this new CD box set for a while at CD/DVD shops & finally my curiosity got the better of me & bought it today (was $130 in Mongkok, but $105 in Ma On Shan). Obviously the Japanese title does not make much sense to Japanese people… How should I say this, it’s [...]

(Japanese blog)

This guy, Rapheal is a leader of ‘Tech Craft’ movement in NY – they [...]
